The Lord is mindful of the saints in the Kansas City Area. This fact was confirmed to me today, as I enjoyed the opportunity to attend the Groundbreaking for the temple that will be built here. To be among other excited saints, to stand upon that sacred ground and to feel the spirit testify of the truthfulness of temples and the gospel, were all memories that I will never forget and that I will cherish. I am excited to see the progress of the temple as it is built and to watch the spring up out of the ground into a magnificent building. I am most looking forward to attending the temple often to learn and to serve. I look forward to taking my family there, even just to walk the temple grounds and eventually to worship together within the walls of the temple. I cannot help but to think about the early saints who dreamed of a temple in this area. I am sure that there was excitement on the other side of the veil today.
The temple will soon sit on this hill. Where all those people are gathered.
My thoughts also go back to two years ago, in October, sitting in the conference center in SLC and hearing the announcement of the Kansas City temple. I cried and cried. This was also the last time that I got to see and visit with my Grandma Kieffer, a very special time that I will never forget.
Other breaking news:
Lydia is growing and learning. I am amazed at her abilities and the changes that she has made over the last few weeks. She reaches out for things, she can hold things and really move them around with ease, she is very interested in things, wants to see what is going on and seems to be processing that information.
I will have my exit interview on Wednesday. I have officially resigned as a teacher. It is bittersweet really. I will miss teaching and my students, but I am looking forward to being a MOM. I was leaving for work the other morning and by the time I got to the garage I was already missing Lydia. I am looking forward to our time together and the opportunity to teach her...(without having to grade papers or write lessons plans on the side.)
