Mom

Yesterday was a special day for mothers! I enjoyed my first "real" mother's day. Ben has always been good at honoring me on this day every year that we have been married, but it was extra special this year, because I actually hold the title now.

I would like to say a few words about my mom. I love her very much. I am grateful for her everyday! She is watching Lydia while I am working and I am not sure that I could ever re-pay her for the peace of mind that I have while I am at work, along with the amount of love and devotion that she is showing Lydia in these early months of her life.

My mom is a very talented and creative woman. I love to learn from her and to be crafty with her. She is patient and willing to teach me, step-by-step. Even when it is a project that she can do in her sleep, she allows me to learn and helps me when I mess up.

I could write many paragraphs about my mom, but I just want to focus on one of my favorite things. I love that my mom decorates her house for every holiday. I love that she takes the time to celebrate and I consider this a family tradition. My mom loves Christmas and she goes all out for Christmas, but she also decorates for all of the other holidays. She has a Christmas tree that stands on her porch year round. She decorates this tree for every holiday. Right now, her tree is decorated for summer and it makes me smile every time I see it. I know that Lydia will love going to Oma's to see her house and the many decorations. I remember playing with many of the decorations that she still has. I also love, that even though my mom might not have a lot of visitors or she is probably not entertaining, she still decorates for herself and for her family to enjoy. This is only one area of love and devotion from my mother. I want to leave plenty of things for future blogs!

I love you, Mom!

The sun is always shining at Oma's!
Sometimes hanging out at my parents is like an island oasis! Here is the summer themed Christmas tree. I love it and it looks really cool at night.
