St. Nikolaustag

In Germany, they celebrate a holiday called St. Nicolas Day. This is the holiday where the children put their shoes out and in the morning they find candy and goodies in their shoes. (This holiday is celebrated in different ways throughout Europe.) I celebrate this every year with my students at school. We talk about the history of the holiday and then I have the students put their shoes out and I fill them with candy.

The first year Ben and I were married I told him about this holiday. I came home on December 5th in the evening and he had put out every pair of shoes that he owned and was expecting me to fill each shoe with candy. I thought this was hilarious...a little greedy...but funny.

So, this year I woke up on December 6th to find this:

Here is a picture of the happy boy collecting his loot. He got one piece of candy in each shoe.

I would also like to point out that Ben has A LOT of shoes. I think I counted 18+ pairs of shoes. (Including slippers and rollerblades.) And he thinks that I have a lot of shoes.

haha! That is so awesome! what a funny guy!

When we pack up I always realize that Dave has WAY too many shoes as well. Its just that they aren't all nice...they all have a "purpose", like, these are my work boots, these are my work tennis shoes, these are my mowing tennis shoes (really? we don't even have a yard anymore!) these are my cold weather hunting boots...these are my warm weather...........you get the picture.

SHEESH!

I love it!!! I agree who ever said girls have too many shoes has not looked in a mans closet. When we moved the 1st time from KC I made Mac get rid of some "old" basketball shoes (he had bought 3 pairs since that set of shoes) and I thought 4 basketball shoes was a little much. You would have thought I asked him to chop off his arm with a rust knife.

Way to live it up Ben!!!

We LUV Ben! He kills me. So I don't know how well you really knew my brother Blake, but everytime I hear of or see Ben do stuff like this, he ALWAYS reminds me of Blake!
