Mom visits KC!

My mom came to visit for a week, early in August. It was great to have her here. What was the reason you might ask? Nothing, she just came to hang out with me and Ken. Mom and I did projects the entire time! It was great. Before she even came we had a list of things that we wanted to make: hooded towels, burp cloths, two skirts for me, pillow slipcovers, and I wanted to make another rag rug. We got most of those things accomplished and I even decided to buy fabric to make my first pieced together quilt! So, we hit up craft stores, quilting stores, decorating stores and a few other stores. We set up the sewing machine and the surger and got busy. We took over the kitchen for the week with our projects. It was great.

Concentrating very hard at the sewing machine.

A-line skirt that we made. Super cute with Amy Butler fabric!

Layered skirt also super cute and for some reason when I put this skirt on I am super sassy!!!! (also Amy Butler fabric)

My first pieced together quilt. Mom showed me the ropes on cutting the squares and laying them out. I sewed two rows together while she was here and finished the rest after she left. I still have two border rows and the back to complete but I am pretty proud of my accomplishment thus far!

Rag rug for the bathroom...I am not finished yet but it is coming along.

Burp cloths for future baby showers! (Always nice to have something on hand.)

The master at the machine. She is soooo good that she can talk and sew at the same time! I have a lot to learn from this lady!

Thanks MOM for coming to see us and helping me with the many projects. Thanks for hitting the pin (wink, wink nudge, nudge...if you know what I mean!) You are a woman of many talents and you are an example to me of an industrious lady! Thanks again! Until next time...

Sounds so fun! I think I could learn a thing or two from your mom also- or you now that she had shown you the ways! I would love to start a project!
