No Rest for the Weary

Well, this weekend was action packed. Actually just Friday night into Saturday morning. I was asked...well begged to chaperon for Relay for Life (a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society) at our school on Friday night. Ben was crazy enough to come with me...which made the night go by a lot faster. It was a neat experience to see High School students working together to raise money for cancer. I was impressed by the impact that it had on many of them. I stayed up the entire night. At about 4:30 A.M. I thought it would be a great idea to jump in the blow-up moonwalk thing. Well...that turned out to be a bad idea. (I guess I am going to be one of those moms who never play with their kids and say they have a bad back so they cannot jump on the trampoline!) I got home around 7:15 a.m. and went to bed. I woke up around 3:00 p.m. and started to clean up my house. Well...one wrong move and my back was killing me! Yep...the right hip, lower back pain strikes again. So, needless to say all of the work that I was planning to get done on Saturday did not get done. Ben's sister came over and massaged my lower back, I gave Liz Holbrook a pretty sweet haircut, and we played video games. It was a fun filled night. Sunday I woke up in PAIN! It took me 10 minutes to get from my bed to the bathroom. Pretty bad! I stretched and rested...decided I was in too much pain to go to church and I was still recovering from lack of sleep on Friday night. Sunday afternoon Bobbi Jamieson helped me out by doing some muscle energy on my back...and then we went to the Holbrook's for dinner. (Bobbi told me that it was better for me to move around...)
I slept on the floor last night. Ben slept in the basement with me...he slept on the new couch though...with the dogs! Not fair! I woke up this morning and after a hot shower and 25 mins I was mobile. Driving was not very comfortable...but standing and teaching was not too bad. I could not sit down for more than three minutes so I just typed on the computer standing up (which I am currently doing.) Came home and was in pain again. After dinner I had to do some more stretching and some more ice. Then I started grading papers...at the kitchen counter. I have been standing for the last couple of hours. I want to sit down but I know how bad that will hurt so it is not worth it. So...I will stand until it is time for me to cozy up on the floor. I cannot wait. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little bit better and slowly but surely I will heal. I feel like an old lady. Ben loving refers to me as Gramms...and reminds me that I will be able to use the Senior Citizen discount soon. As I was getting out of the car to go shopping he yelled..."hurry or they are going to close before you get there!" He is a comedian! All crazy comments aside he is pretty patient with me and plays a pretty good nurse. I am grateful for that. So...I better get back to grading. I might as well wear myself out so I will sleep well on the cold, hard, concrete floor tonight. Any sympathy????

I know how you feel. After Eliza was born I have not been able to do a ton. My back is always hurting although not as bad as yours sounds. I LOVE the couch and all you have done in the basement. Also my dad said your ward was split so what part did you go to?

So sorry you hurt your back and are in so much pain! Milk it while you can, but hope it feels better soon. Sorry to hear that you aren't in the same ward as my parents anymore! I will miss seeing you at church when I come into town.

Where is my sympathy??? I lost a workout partner!!! No seriously I feel really bad, back pain in the worst! Basically I think we just need to strengthen our cores so that our backs don't have to do so much work! Get better soon!

Thanks to all who have responded. I really did not write the post for sympathy...I just found it humorous.

Aimee, I am in the Platte Woods Ward still but we meet in the Jackson building now.

Back pain is dreadful! I'm so sorry.
Maybe you should get some pain meds...this is coming from a girl who's all about the quick fix. I'm sure time will heal, and that's probably the best.
No more moon walks!
