From the mouth of...teenagers!

Teen #1: "Frau Bailey, why are you walking like that?"
FB: "My back is hurt and I am in pain."
Teen #1: "Whoa! What is wrong with your hip? It is sticking out. That is sick."
FB: "Thanks, I am glad that you noticed."

Teen #2: "How did you hurt your back?"
FB: "I just jarred it a bit."
Teen #2: "I guess you do not have to tell us, if it is embarrassing or something...or maybe you can't tell us..." (smile, snicker, smile)

Teen #3: "Your back is still hurt? Why don't you go to the Dr. or something?"
FB: "I have been to the Dr. But it will take time for it to get better."
Teen #3: "Well, you should be at home, on pain killers and muscle relaxers. Do you want me to bring you some drugs from my house? They will help with the pain."
FB: "Nein, danke. I think I will be okay."

FB: "Guten Morgen Klasse! I just want to let you know that I am not feeling myself today. My back is causing me a lot of pain and currently I am at about a nine on a 10 point pain scale. So, please be nice to me."
Teen #4: "You should go home. You should have called in. Then we could watch a movie or do something FUN."
FB: "Thanks, I am glad to hear that I would be missed."

Teen #5: "So, because you have a hurt back does that mean that you cannot chase me down the hall if I do something wrong?"

Teen #6: "Frau, watching you walk around the classroom is making my back hurt. You really need to sit down."
FB: "It hurts too much to sit down."
Teen #6: "Hmmm...that sucks. Maybe you should just lay down. Don't worry, I can take over the class."

These are just a few of the comments that my students have made over the last week of my back pain. I have continued to go to work and move around. I have been in a lot of pain and this has really zapped the energy from me. I am feeling a bit better now. About a five on the pain scale. It hurts just enough to be annoying. Slowly but surely...I was pretty out of whack. It got worse on Wednesday. Ouch! Ben is calling me "Grandma" because of my top speed when walking. Silly boy.

I am so sorry to hear about your back that truely sucks. Maybe you should see a chiropractor. You have got to love all the teenie boppers you teach.
