Christmas Tree Farm 2013

It is the day after Thanksgiving, so that means we loaded in the car as a family and headed up to Reindeer Lane Christmas Tree Farm north of Smithville, Missouri. We have gone to cut down a fresh tree every year since we were married in 2002. I love going with our kids, it makes the experience so much more exciting.
We picked up our sled and saw and headed out to hunt for the perfect tree for the year. We decided to get a long needled "softer" tree. I found two that I really like, but finally decided on the perfect tree. We let the kids run and play in the field for a while and then cut the tree down. Avery was very interested in the sawing of the tree and was a great helper. Avery and Lydia were pulled around on the sled before we put the tree on it. We ate popcorn and drank hot chocolate. We went on a horse drawn sleigh ride. We took a picture with one of Santa's helpers. We ate more popcorn and drank more hot chocolate. Overall, it was a successful trip to the tree farm. We came home and put it up. This evening we decorated the tree and the house. Lydia was very excited to help decorate and put the ornaments on. She especially loved putting on the Barbie ornaments. She also got to decorate her own tree with princesses and fairies.
