Crafty Women

My mom stayed an extra week after Thanksgiving. So, while she was here we did projects. Every spare minute I had was dedicated to working on various projects that I wanted to get done. We ran from craft store to craft store and fabric store to fabric store all over town. We laughed and talked while we sewed. My mom taught me more tricks and shared more of her expertise with me. I am grateful for her love and willingness to teach me…something that seems second nature to her. She was patient and I think she was even a little excited to watch me learn and create something!

We made pillows for my couch downstairs. I had been looking for slipcovers, but could not find anything that was “perfect.” So, my mom brought this great pattern, we found the fabric and I made them! They are perfect in the basement! I love them!

Here are the pillows on the couch with the other pillows; the entire ensemble.

We also made a new curtain for the basement. We had a gray blanket hanging up there for about 10 months. I knew what I wanted to do but I had to find the right fabric and I needed my mom to help. So…we went hunting for fabric. I found something I really liked at one store but it was $45/yard…outrageous! So…I settled for Amy Butler Fabric, which I really like. I am not done. I am going to put up a valance and it will be orange…to match the pillows on the couch! Super cute! I will let you know when I am done with that.

This picture does not show the detail of the fabric. You will have to come over to see the curtains in person. And, it will look better when I have the valance done.
I am also working to piece together an adorable new Christmas quilt. It is a little more involved than my first quilt and it is still in progress. I will post that later.

Here is a picture of my mom and me! She is the best mom! I love her very much.
