Reflections

I am going to copy something my sister, Kathryn, did on her blog. I think it is a neat activity and I might even have my German III or IV class complete this exercise. (Wow…I sound like a teacher!)

20 years ago: 1988
• Living in Bountiful Utah
• Attending first grade at Leo J. Muir Elementary
• Had one of my favorite teachers: Mrs. Kilpack
• Probably playing in the snow with Andrea or playing “teacher” by myself

10 years ago: 1998
• Accepted to the Congress-Bundestag program (I would be leaving for my Senior year to live in Germany as an exchange student)
• Tara was mad at me because I would be leaving
• I was a Junior in High School
• I had a crush on Bret.
• I met Kyleigh Griffith at Girl’s Camp
• I left in August to live in Germany
• I gained a testimony of Jesus Christ
• I got to live with an amazing family…Familie Karthaus!

5 years ago: 2003
• Had been married to Ben Bailey for 6 months
• Living in a one bedroom apartment
• Trying to make ends meet ($50 was all we had “extra”)
• Waiting tables at Jazz

1 year ago: 2007
• Sick!!!! I could not go to school for an entire week
• Spring Break was not far away
• Mom came to visit to celebrate my brother’s b-day
• Training for a ½ marathon
• Planning Girl’s Camp for 2007 and a trip to Germany for 2007
This year: 2008
• Made it ½ way through my 4th year of teaching
• Went on a Caribbean cruise with my family (amazing)
• Added Wisconsin to my states visited list
• Bought a SWEET new car!
• Made new goals…hope to reach them

Yesterday: 3-12-2008
• Taught German I about Direct Object Pronouns
• Taught German IV about WWII (in German) and had them write an essay about a childhood friend. (I wrote one too!)
• Took a nap on my desk. I only had five hours of sleep and daylight savings time always kicks my butt!
• Took the dogs for a much needed walk and let them play in a field.
• Went to bed at 8:30 p.m.
• Drove with my sunroof open and windows down---it was 80 degrees in KC!!

Tomorrow: 3-14-2008
• I will teach five different classes, 5 or more different things
• I will see over 150 students in 7 hours…and try to teach them German on a Friday!
• I will eat popcorn (Free Popcorn Fridays…one of the perks!)
• Attend the Pinewood Derby Ward Activity (Speed is the name of the game!)
• I will be sooooo excited that it is the weekend!!!
• I will kiss my husband…just because.
