Breaking Rules

If you know me pretty well...I do not like to break rules. I believe that rules are rules and that if they have been put in place then there is no need to break the rules. My husband, always makes fun of me for NOT breaking rules. If I break a tiny rule he makes a big deal about it.

I feel like I am breaking a rule right now!!! I am at school...blogging. This might not seem like a very big deal, but it is. Here, in my school district they BLOCK everything! They block the obvious sites...Facebook, myspace, youtube, hotmail, aol, etc. because otherwise we would not be able to teach our students anything. Unfortunately, they also block useful, academically sound sites. They also tend to block a lot of sites that I need for German.

So, the other day I was at my computer. My principal had agreed to buy some books for my German IV class to read. I had to order the books on amazon.de. My amazon account works through my gmail account so the receipt for the books was sent to my gmail account. I was thinking it would be nice to check my email to print the receipt here at school so I would not have to remember that later. I brought up Internet Explorer and typed in...www.gmail.com...and it came up! It was not blocked anymore! I checked my email, printed the receipt...read a few other personal emails and then went on my way. I was very excited to be able to check my personal email! I have not been able to do that for three and half years, so this was pretty exciting for me. So, here I am posting on my blog...because it is not blocked! I am sure this privilege will not be around very long...so I am taking full advantage. They will find that I am using gmail and shut down the operation...but for now...I am "breaking" the rules. I guess it is not really a "rule" but it feels like I am being sneaky! I am sure that Ben is proud of me.
