Ratchet

Introducing the newest member of our family. We were not planning to get another dog, but in our lives...things just happen like this. Aunt Cheryl had a dog follow her home after a bike ride. She tried to find the owner of the dog...called shelters, alerted the neighborhood, etc. But she did not find an owner. She asked us if we were interested in a dog...a Boxer...my first reaction was no...not right now. I didn't feel like we were in a position to get a dog, especially because Ben had been gone so much. Once I met him, I knew that Ben would really like him! He is a good looking dog, he loves to play, he is healthy, he is good with the kids.

We started off babysitting him while his aunt went out of town. The first few days were really hard for me...figuring out this new, strong dog and the kids etc. We have had him since the beginning of April. He is doing pretty good. We go on a lot of walks. He likes to run away...so we are working with him to stop doing that. He is very excited about people and other animals. He is very social and loves to play.

This weekend, we got him a dog tag...so I guess it is official. His name is Ratchet. We tried a few different names, but this one stuck.
