Ben wore shorts...he hurt is knee at the Turkey Bowl and did not want his pants to rub on his knee.

So, here we are in front of the tree that we picked...quickly because it was so cold. I cut it down and we hurried into the barn to warm up with some hot chocolate and popcorn.
Lydia shared her candy cane with Avery.
Cute aunt and niece picture!
Blue lips
Candy cane monster.
So we headed home with our tree strapped to the roof. Unloaded the kids and stuff...turned on the Nebraska Football game. Ben and I decided that we needed some things from the store...Football food...so I got Lydia ready and we jumped into the car to head to the store. (Little did I know that Ben had cut the ties for the Christmas tree, but had not taken it off...)
So, on the road the tree flew off the top of the car. I returned home to tell Ben and he said leave it there, we will get it when you get back from the store (we were both hungry). So I left it there...on the side of the road.
But, it was not there when I got back from the store (20 minutes later). Someone had taken it!
I was bummed. Like, go to my room and be sad for a while bummed. Who does that? Why did that happen to us? Real trees are not cheap! Bummed.
So, we did a do-over!

Here is the real perfect tree! (Who knew you could find two perfect trees??)
Me sawing the tree down.
Mommy and Avery!
Ben took the tree off the roof right when we got home and we brought it inside...can't be too careful with tree capers around!
We can laugh about it now, but at the time it was devastating. We had fun at the tree farm the second time around. It was not as cold. Lydia and Avery sat on Santa's lap. Opa and Oma went with us the second time. We went on a horse drawn carriage ride. Ben drank five hot chocolates and ate three or four bags of popcorn. We made great memories! That is what this season is about. I love our Christmas tree tradition, even if we have to do it twice! I would also like to note that Lydia wore (sparkle) jeans both days...but took them off promptly upon arriving home! (Jeans don't spin and are not princess clothes!)
And that is the story of the Christmas Tree(s)!
