My Life...as Frau Bailey

I am officially locked out of my email account from Truman High School. I have checked a few times this summer and I still had access. As of tonight, I am not longer allowed to read emails that have nothing to do with me, but are interesting to read to find out what the school year will hold for my friends who are still teaching at Truman.

I ended my teaching career at Truman with a bang (No, I did not shoot anyone or get shot at). I was nominated as teacher of the month for May. The nomination letter was heartfelt and made me cry. I was excited to hang this banner in my classroom. (Although many students asked who I had stolen the banner from...) I was honored to think about the other teachers who had hung the banner in their rooms and that I was among the few that year to have the privilege.

A student made and decorated this cake for a food day toward the end. I was amazed at the time he spent decorating it and the nice quote on the cake, for me.

I made great friends while teaching at Truman High School. We all went out to lunch on our last day of school. They are great friends who I will miss seeing on a daily basis.

I walked by the school supplies isle the other day and stopped for a moment, just to look and take it all in...then I kept walking because I do not need to buy any supplies this year.

A few thoughts have run through my head about things I am going to miss because I am not teaching...silly, non-teaching things really. I am not going to miss the lesson planning, crazy students, grading and amount of energy it takes.

I love teaching Lydia. She is very observant and seems to learn quickly. She will be crawling...any day now! I am looking forward to this year with her...she will learn so much and I will be able to watch it all happen. I feel blessed.

ahhhh, margaret!

you are such a great teacher...always giving 150% in everything to do!

I understand this post. I STILL feel a little heart pull everytime I read about a staff meeting or some other teacher related thing (just this morning! :)

but...this is a good season too. And ultimately, when the 'kids in the house' season is over, I know I will miss it more!

I know you were a great teacher and will continue to do so! Just to a smaller audience! I love you.
