Nicknames

My family LOVES nicknames!!! When Ben came into the family we started giving him nicknames...we usually do not let a person "approve" the nickname, we just start calling them that. Well, Ben was a little picky and said that he needed to approve all nicknames before they were allowed to stick.
Well, being the youngest sister I did not have the privilege of getting nicknames approved...I just had to live with being called...whatever my siblings decided to call me.

Here is the list as I remember it...I am sure my siblings will let me know if I left any out.

The early years:
Meggie-poo
Dolly
Crybaby...
Marmaduke
Margarine
Mugs (the parents of one of my friends in elementary used to call me this)

Teens:
Margo (mostly by my friends in Oregon)
Marge (Ken started this one...just to watch my cry and scream. This name stuck through High School...I was not happy when my Seminary graduation certificate said...Marge Kieffer!)
Large Marge (another favorite but damaging to a teen...in the ugly phase of life)
The Mascot
Mar
Megg (I went to an EFY once and went by Megg the entire time! I always wanted that one to stick...or Maggie...but neither did! Marge was far too popular!)

After High School: (Things got a little out of control!)
Short
Shorty
Maury
Maury Povich
Povey
Po
Little Po
The little Po
Moorberry
Marquad (a family favorite...from Shreck...sometimes they called me Lord Marquad)

Mags/Maggie (Liz Holbrook has started using these two quite frequently)
Once in awhile Ben will call me Peggy just to tease me!

At school: (even my students have started using nicknames!)
Frau Bailey
Frau
Frau Baa-baa (this does not look right...but they say "B" in German twice)
F-bizzle
Mrs. Bailey

I think that might be all. Each name has a story and you can see the evolution of some names. I think each of my siblings calls me by a different nickname. My mother usually just calls me, Margaret. That is what she named me so that is what she calls me.
I love the name Margaret.

I cracked up the WHOLE way through this post! I totally remember those names! How funny! I am glad you documented them! heeh! I think you're right, everyone used "marge" as a joke because it sounds so opposite of who you really are! :) I like Margaret too! beautiful! :) (although, F-bizzle is nice too!)

I was smiling myself. I must admit I remember you most as Marge. I didn't know that your graduation certificate said that though...nice.
I will never forget our week at EFY as "D.J." and "Megg." Kinda funny looking back at it! I don't think we fooled too many people!

Was Porty (as in Shorty Porty) listed, or is that just was my nickname??

I'm impressed with your collection of nicknames. I only have three.

I can hear Kanty calling you most of those names while I was reading them. I have to agree with Tara I like F-bizzle the best.
