Ice Storm: Aftermath

The ice storm was not as bad as predicted. We did get school off on Tuesday. But by 10:00 or so the roads were actually fine. They were threatening that we might get more ice on Tuesday night but that did not come. We were back in school on Wednesday.

Ice storms are neat because of the beauty they bring with them. The trees, all plants and grass were coated in ice. The entire city looked like something from a storybook (Naria maybe??). It was a pretty neat sight to see.

We lost power on Tuesday at about 8:00 a.m. and power did not return until Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. It never ceases to amaze me that we rely on power for a lot of things. I kept thinking of activities that I wanted to do...but they required power; I wanted to make cookies, I wanted to make hot chocolate, I wanted to post these pictures on my blog. Not able to do any of these things. We stayed in house on Tuesday night even though we had three offers from people to stay at their houses. It was an "adventure" sleeping with a lot of blankets and our two full-sized dogs. The house was only about fifty degrees when we woke up, so that was not that bad. I was glad to hear that our power was back on Wednesday afternoon because I did not enjoy blow drying and straightening and putting on my make-up in my classroom at school. We are supposed to get a few inches of snow tonight...so that should be exciting! Ben cannot wait to go sledding! I am not sure that we will get enough to do that...but you never know!

Did you guys have any tree damage? I lost three pretty good-sized limbs that I had to cut up and bundle (and yes, I realize that you guys can just throw yours in "The Pit!").\
